Do I Have an iTunes Gift Card Balance?

It can be difficult to purchase the right gift card for someone, especially if you do not know them very well. But you have probably seen them using their mobile phone at some point, and if they have an iPhone, then they will probably be able to gain some utility from an iTunes gift card.

There is also a good chance that someone might give you an iTunes gift card, and you might have even used some of that gift card balance to make a purchase. But you may not have used the entire balance of the card, potentially leaving a credit on your iTunes account. So if you are wondering if you have a leftover iTunes gift card balance, then you can follow the steps in our guide to see what balance, if any, is currently left on your account.

Where Can I See My iTunes Gift Card Balance If I Have One?

These steps were written and performed with an iPhone 5, in IOS 9.3. These steps will work for other iPhone models using the iOS 9 operating system. For additional information, you can read this article about checking iTunes account balances.

Step 1: Open the iTunes Store app.

Step 2: Select the Music option at the bottom-left corner of the screen.

Step 3: Select the Featured tab at the top of the screen.

Step 4: Scroll to the bottom of the screen, where you will find a rounded rectangle with your Apple ID. Under that is a line that states your current balance. You will note that there is a $0.00 balance in the picture below, indicating that any available iTunes credit, whether from a gift card or any other means, has already been used.

If you attempt to make a purchase and you do not have a gift card balance, then iTunes will use the credit card that is associated with your Apple ID.

Note that it is possible to make a purchase in the iTunes Store that is part gift card balance and part credit card. The gift card balance will be used first, then the remaining purchase amount will be applied to your credit card. For example, if you have a $5.00 gift card balance remainder, and you want to make a $7.99 purchase, then that would be applied in the following manner:

$5.00 – gift card balance

$2.99 – credit card
